No News, Good News

I haven’t written much lately because there hasn’t been much news on the migraine front.  This is my 15th consecutive day without a migraine.  Considering the amount of stress I’ve been under, with our frantic househunt and the attendant loss of sleep and delayed or skipped meals, I’d say this is a #%@*!! miracle.

I have been migraine-free for more than 14 days before, but never under such conditions.  Either the Endure-All is helping, or I am the beneficiary of the Placebo Effect.  I hope it’s the drug, because in my experience, the Placebo Effect is temporary.

Thus far, the side effects seem to be manageable, too.  I felt kind of icky this weekend when the temperature rose, and in fact at one point my diastolic pressure was a slightly alarming 55, but hot weather always lowers my blood pressure and leaves me a little tired, weak, or faint.  I am still keeping an eye on myself, but so far, so good.

  1. Well, a so far so good success story in the migraine department - congrats. Geez, they are miserable suckers them migraines. I have suffered for probably 20 years now, and have been to so many doctors, I have lost count. But just recently visited a neurologist who put me on Topamax (I’m sure I was on this before), and so far so good. Also, Imitrex (nasal spray) if I feel a doozer coming on. The only problem with Imitrex is…you have to catch the feeling of pain within 15 min. Using it afterwards is useless. So there you have it. Hopefully, both of us can tackle these.

  2. Hi, Cherished,
Well, I’m lucky (or unlucky) in that my migraines always come with an aura, so I know when to take the Imitrex. The downside is that the aura is extremely debilitating, much worse than the pain, and the Imitrex doesn’t do anything for the aura.
Also, there have been a couple of times when I’ve awakened in the middle of a migraine, and by then, it’s too late for Imitrex.
Good luck to you - 20 years is a long time to suffer.
